Log in to character and the video freezes

Redownloaded the launcher since the original wouldn’t patch to 1.3.51. Got it all loaded up checked to make sure it didn’t need any updates, create my new character login, get the prompt for which zone I’d like to start in. Then the video freezes, I can hear my character moving around, i can jump, I can see my cursor swap to the mailbox icon, I can hit esc and I can hear the menu open up but I can see anything other than a frozen screen
